    In the summer of 1985, as the American movie Breakin’ swept through the countryside of Ireland, brothers Noel and Mike Hogan would practice their dance moves with other local breakdancers at the green in front of their house in Moyross, Limerick, where the new found love of boomboxes and tracksuits were displayed. It was here that they met a young man from nearby Parteen, named Fergal Lawler. And so begins the story of The Cranberries…

    Their common love of breakdance quickly bonded the three. But Noel 13, Mike 12 and Fergal 14, soon found they had other things in common apart from this, and the interest in breakdancing gradually gave way to a shared love of music.
